Currently accepted OOS to Upstate but highly ranked on the waitlist for Brody and looking for advice if I get the call
SUNY Pros:
Brody Pros:
Overall if the money was the same I'd go to Upstate and not think twice about it to have a new experience of living outside of NC. I know both schools, while not overly prestigious, are well respected and match students to highly ranked residencies every year. My current interests are in cardiology, anesthesia, pathology, or radiology. Does Upstate being slightly higher ranked move the needle at all for where to attend? Thank you in advance for all advice
SUNY Pros:
- More established/older program
- Has home residency programs for any specialty
- Been in NC for a long time and upstate NY is very appealing to me
- All clinical rotations at Upstate hospital/in Syracuse
- Huge OOS Tuition at least for one year
Brody Pros:
- In state tuition significantly cheaper
- Have some friends in school/residency here
- No home Anesthesia program
- Higher attrition rate of students
- Some travel required around Eastern NC for 3rd year clinicals
