I'm trying to find a place to stay for the interview at WVSOM. So far I've found Super 8 and Econo Lodge Fort Savannah. Can someone tell me what you think of these places? Are they clean and well kept? Thank you. I'm leaning towards Super 8 as it's only 0.53 miles from the college.

Why don't you stay at the General Lewis Inn? I stayed there and it is about 55 dollars a night. This is where you'll meet in the morning before your interview. It just makes it easy!

If you are renting a car or are driving staying at either of those places would probably be fine. I did have a car, but the General Lewis Inn was much eaiser and the people that work there are extremely friendly.

It didn't come up with my search for hotels in Lewisburg. I just checked it out. It looks really nice but it costs $95 a night for a double bed. I couldn't fine anything cheaper. $95 is the cheapest. Please provide a link if you find something for $45. Again, thank you!

They discount the rates at the general lewis inn if you are interviewing at WVSOM.

Hey, can you please report back after the interview? I am going down for the 13th and would sure like some idea of what to expect.

The email says it is an informal interview are you planning to wear an interview outfit, or something more casual?

I am just driving there and back that day (from Cleveland), so I can't help you at all with lodging. Sorry.

Where did you see that?? I'm wearin my suit....

Hi Don. How do I go about getting this discount? Are you going to stay there and do you know how far it is from the school in terms of city blocks?

Thank you everyone for responding. I will post about the interview when I get back. I might even fill out the post-interview feedback.

I think I will be wearing a suit even if it says informal. It just look more professional as we are applying for a professional school. I have a feeling that everyone will be dressing up in suits so yes I'd rather blend in with the crowd than to stand out. LOL.

Any other suggestions would greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, where is everyone getting their suits? I'm thinking of checking out JCPenny but don't know if they can fix the suit to my liking.

I'd drive but I'm afraid something my breakdown and end up being late for my first interview. Or getting lost 🙂. I'll give you my feedback about the interview once I get back.

Any interview suggestions? Anybody?....

Just want to add that WVSOM responding to my email and says that Econo Lodge is within walking distance to the school and downtown. What's everyone opinion on this place?

Anyone question, do we have to wear a tie? I'm planning on wearing a suit and shirt without a tie. Do you think this will look unprofessional?

I took an interview class on campus which was AWESOME, and we all got together and the teacher would interview us in front of the class🙂 It was stressfull doing an interview in front of 20 other people and a video camera! But, through the experience you figure out what you need to do to be successful and how to answer questions in an appropriate way... I would suggest putting yourself into a stressful situation like this to practice interview skills, have a friend ask you some tuff questions and TAPE YOURSELF to see if you have any annoying ticks. You'll never realize it until you watch a video....

Dress, wear what you think is comfortable but remember that first impressions mean more than the interview itself... Studies show that most job interviews are decided off of the first impression, sad isn't it!! I'm wearing a suit and tie, but i'm comfortable in a suit and tie... If this will make you uncomfortable don't wear it!! hope this helps!

Thank you! I contacted them and was told by Angie that the rate would be $50. It's only .5 mile from the school.

DEFINITELY stay at the General Lewis. It's a wonderful, quaint, old-fashioned hotel/B&B type place with lots of Civil War era pictures on the walls. Rumor has it that it is also haunted.

Wear a suit for your interview. Thought it is very "relaxed," it is still a formal interview.

Man, why did you have to add that it's haunted? lol...geez! Hey does the double bed (single occupancy) come with its own bathroom?

The General Lewis is a good choice. All of the rooms have a private bathroom. It is also convenient for you as you are scheduled for a complementary breakfast and lunch there (breakfast with a few faculty/staff members and lunch with a few students).
Some tips... wear a suit, everyone does. Make sure your shoes are comfortable. Be yourself, and let the people you meet get to know you a little. The official interview is not the only time that you could be evaluated, so be on your best behavior all day. Also, use your time wisely. This is your opportunity to find out about this school and community, talk to current medical students, faculty, etc. and figure out if you want to go to school here. Relax and enjoy the day.
Good luck.

The manager of the Inn and someone in admissions both told me that it was haunted during my interview day. Have fun 😱 😱 😱

Are they trying to attract tourists? lol... If it's serioulsy haunted why would the inn manager tell us that not to mention people in admissions. Hmm strange.

I believe that the norm dictates medical school interviews are formal. Every guy I saw wore a suit and tie. I have yet to see anyone not wear one. Just make sure it's comfortable.

I may have missed it...but how did the interview go,what was everyone wearing? Also, what are the ladies wearing? I am thinking of going with a simple dress(suit) with a jacket. No heels though. I am thinking that in WV sensible shoes will be okay.

I think it sounds like a great school and I'd love to be so close to hiking and climbing and such.

I have decided to drive down the night before too. I didn't realize Lewisburg was on the opposite side of WV from me! So, I'll be doing the 6hr+ drive theday before. I'm hoping to stay at the General Lewis Inn. Their website makes it look like a really nice place!

Ooooh I'm getting so excited!
