supervising a NP

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am still resident, but I would not do it for even 40k/yr if I were an attending.

FM/IM docs have to look it that way: An extra day of work every two weeks at an urgent care or inpatient would get you 40-60k/yr, so why should you put your license in jeopardy supervising someone with dubious training.

Ideally you would get a percentage of their billing.

Realistically, either hourly based on the work you actually do (reviewing charts, discussing patients). Usually $150/hr or so.

Or flat rate per month. 1-5k/month is the range I've seen.

thanks, just the answer I was looking for. Unsure if I want to do it tho....too much liability

Just want to add, you should ask for both (% + Hourly) vs just one or the other, as case in point, what if you need to spend time after hours to go over charts/make changes to management etc. You're losing out if you don't have both components.
Still not work it.. but if you're forced to, you got no other option.

Hey all, clinic asked me if I could supervise a NP.
