On several supplemental applications the question, Please list all DO/MD schools applied to now, or in the past, is asked. I thought this information is private. If I choose not to answer this question, is that considered falsifying or just a matter of privacy? Doesn't it look bad to say you applied to 25+ schools? I thought schools do not know where we apply etc. What do you think, did you answer this question?

I didn't run across this on any of my secondaries. Are you sure that is what it is asking? I saw a few that asked if I had ever started at a med school DO or MD, but never asked me to list the schools I had applied to. Although, I was asked during an interview and the guy wrote them all down and asked me why I had applied to some of them.

just answer the question. the info is not private, they can find out. all md schools know where u applied. i thinkk it is same for DO schools.

and anyways on interviews some schools ask you where else you applied and I answered and still got in.

i applied 2 many schools also....i dont think it made a dofference in whether i was accepted or not

i dont know if they know how many schools you applied too but they do know how many u have been accepted too..so i'm pretty sure they have all that info as well

Answer the question and don't lie or leave any out. I had several classmates who had to attach an extra sheet to list all the schools they applied to and obviously it didn't prevent them from being accepted. I've only heard of one person that even got questioned about it and he explained his reasons for applying to so many schools and that was that. Of course it is your decision, but I would not lie or leave out info on any application. You don't want to have to worry about a stupid decision after your acceptance. Especially since you generally sign a statement at the end that says that all the info there is correct, complete, etc. to the best of your knowledge. Good Luck.

I believe the osteopathic schools have access to only the osteopathic schools that you applied to. I think the same goes for allopathic schools.

You should list both of them. The only information I didn't divulge was which schools invited me for interviews and where I had already been accepted. I didn't want them to hold it against me or think that I would probably just use their shcool as a back up school.

Marrianne11,

I'm sure you're talking about NOVA, right? Go ahead and answer all your schools, don't lie. who knows what they may find out. I put down every single school (21 MD and 5 DO) and got an interview and acceptance within the month!!!! If they ask about why so many schools, have an answer perpared.

best of luck!

I ran into this same question, I filled out the adobe .pdf form and didn't have enough room for all the schools I applied to! 😀 I also wonder why they ask this question but hey it could be good or it could be bad. Such is life😎

I left that question blank. I have on every supplemental that I've filled out. To me, it's not relevant to what they need to know about me. It's like going out with a gal and ask her for the names of the other guys she's done it with.

Oh, and no school has mentioned anything about my choice to leave it blank. Leave it blank.
