It seems odd how the supplemental fees thing works. Some schools tell you to send the money after they contact you and some tell you to submit it at the same time you e-submit your app. will they not review my app until i have sent in the fee? also, some schools (like columbia) just say "Application fee $75 (make check payable to Columbia University)." This just seems really sketchy because it's not even specific to the dental school. any advice would be much appreciated.

just don't care too much about 'same time' and 'after contact' thing.
unless you are way way out of the norm, you will be paying them anyways in the end.

They money you pay to AADSAS goes to ADEA, they money you pay to the school goes to them, you gotta pay for AADSAS to process/send your app and for the school to look at it.
