Supplemental Materials?

Ok, so I'm looking at the Supplemental Materials Table from the AADSAS Instruction Booklet. Some of the schools ask for Official Transcripts and Letters of Recommendation as a supplemental material. Isn't that already provided to them by AADSAS? (I sent in my transcripts and LORS to AADSAS) Doesn't AADSAS distribute the transcripts/LORS to all the dental schools you applied to?

Also, I just submitted my application yesterday. Should I be sending out these supplemental materials now?

Now that I have sent in my application to AADSAS, when do I get the package from them? And what does the package include?

How do you transfer a PDF file (The Secondary Applications are PDF for some schools), to a WORD document so that you can type in your answers instead of printing them and hand writing them?

Hi LSN - don't worry about the many questions as you'll just get a lengthy answer from someone like me!

You can anticipate AADSAS taking, at minimum, a month to process your application. I submitted mine on June 1st and it was mailed out on July 2nd. A few days after my application was mailed out they got around to sending me my confirmation packet - which is simply a printout of everything that was submitted online. I have heard that the more applications come into AADSAS, the longer it takes them to get mailed out, so I would look for yours to take anywhere from four to six weeks to reach your various schools.

I would certainly mail out any materials to the schools which they request sent at the same time you submit your AADSAS application. These generally include a check for the fee and sometimes a picture. A link to a list of all the schools and what they require and when can be found in the "Links of Interest" thread at the top of the pre-dental forum. Some schools want the fee sent right away and won't consider your application until it is in their hot little hands while others request that you send it after they notify you.

You should be fine as far as LOR's and transcripts are concerned. AADSAS does distribute them for you and so far none of the schools that I have applied to request that a second, official copy from a recommendor or school registrar be sent to them. If in doubt, then please contact those individual schools you are not clear about as they'll give you an answer. Best of luck!
