Does anyone know if we should expect to fill out a supplemental for every school we applied to or if they are an indication that you're likely to be invited to interview? I'm wondering for all schools, but if anyone could comment about ICO in particular, that would be helpful too!

I don't know if you can get an interview without submitting a supplemental to ICO. ICO sends supplemental invites to prospective applicants. I got an email with the supplemental, its just one essay question and I got an invite a couple of days later after I filled it out and sent it in. My interview is on 11/11

Yeah you get invited to supplemental first at ICO and then get invited for an interview after that. Some schools that I applied to like SCO, UMSL, IUSO, and Ohio State invited me to an interview before I fully completed the secondary. However, it is probably best to fill that out if you are truly thinking about that school to let them know you are interested in them.

I was just accepted to ICO so if you have any questions about the process let me know! Good luck

How was the ICO interview day? What questions did they ask you?

How was the ICO interview day? What questions did they ask you?

I really like the interview day. We began with a file review where they asked some questions about my OAT scores, pre-reqs, my current plans, my class withdrawal, what other schools I was applying to and what was my top school and why. (I did say another school besides ICO. I still got in so just be honest if you feel comfortable enough) Then there was a timed 10 minute writing prompt about ourselves. That was a little intense and unexpected but pretty easy to answer. There was then a presentation from Financial Aid and Career Services. They had a lot of good information, but I was honestly going over interview answers in my head and pumping myself up so I might have missed some information.

Next was the 45-60 minute one-on-one interview. My lasted about 60 minutes with Dr. Roberts. It felt more of a conversation about our experiences then him drilling with questions. We talked about why I wanted to become an optometrist, what I wanted to specialize in, my research and his, what I was looking for in an optometry school especially ICO, leadership roles I had and about how I overcome some obstacles I had in my undergraduate career and my ultimate decision to take a gap year. So the questions and topics were very personal towards me and my file. I couldn't believe it lasted an hour though it seemed to fly by. I would just expect to be asked about almost anything in your file and how those experiences can be applied to ICO.

After that you have a tour of campus and lunch with some of the current students. The facilities are very nice and impressive. The students are also very excited about ICO and love to answer any little question you may have.

Just enjoy the day and Chicago. I had to drive back right after my interview, so I was unable to look around the city. I would suggest that because it can get you a better feel of how you like to live there for the next 4 years.

Good luck!

Congratulations to you both! And thanks for your responses. i guess I was wondering if schools send supplementals to all of their applicants or only the ones that meet a certain cut-off?

Again I think it depends on the school. I believe ICO only invites a certain amount of people to fill out the supplemental application and the same with OSU. You can always call the admission office of the respective school you have questions about. All of the people I have talked to have been really nice and helpful
