hello, i searched this forum to get a better understanding of what the supplemental materials entail and found a site that seemed to indicte that it is pretty much just a picture. is this usually the case or are secondary type essays required as well?

It various quite a bit by the school, but essays are typically part of a secondary application. The schools in question may have more information on their websites.
