Hi there everyone.

I hope that this thread will not spiral down as the previous one did. I was given permission to reopen it. I ask that physicians and aspiring physicians post on it only so that we can 'keep the peace'.

Not sure how dated this link is, but it refers to how we as future physicians are being 'restricted' by managed care companies. It refers to how managed care companies offer, "take it or leave it" deals to docs.

Check it out:

Again, political activism and unity are key factors in assuring our success.

Im a medical student, interested in joining ASA. Only problem is, my school doesnt have an anesthesia department. Do you think that I could just have my dean sign it?

PM'd you 👍

Since Jet and Toughlife have been locked out...I've gotten several more PMs stating interest in a private forum.

Here's the scoop fellas (and ladies). We are experiencing some delays due to tech problems. We want to make certain that only Physician providers/Residents of Anesthesiology get access to it. In doing so, we are trying to figure out a 'secure' way to do this, which is sort of tricky.

We appreciate your patience. I know all too well this is something we all want pretty badly, given the current course of events 👍

Being from Texas, I can tell you that we frequently tell the insurance companies to shove it if they try to lowball us. Progress has been made in Texas and in many cities, physicians have formed loose physician associations/corporations for the purposes of negotiating insurance contracts without actually being part of the same group from a practice standpoint. It's tricky, but it can be done (see San Diego).

wow...i wish more Docs did exactly what you guys do! 'cuz just like you said, it takes some effort, but the returns out weigh the expense.

And what about med students who benefit from this forum (like myself)? Lock them out too? Honestly this forum was kick-a$$ before you and Nitecap started dominating the board by bickering nonstop.

hey dude-

listen, people that posted on here before are still going to post on this public forum. There are some things that are 'more sensitive' info that are only for physician providers only. As you've seen, there are non-physician providers on here that 'pick the attendings brains' and get info from attendings/residents, etc ONLY to further their own agenda. As long as you have met the criteria for membership to the 'private' forum you will be allowed in (see other thread).

The quality of cases and posts will be a lot better when we all feel confident that we are sharing with our colleagues.

I am not trying to burn any bridges here, and I the objective is not to exclude PHYSICIAN/future physician providers.

Hope you understand man! It's just something that had to be done to insure that physicians are in the driver's seat when it comes to Anesthesiology :luck: .
