Does anyone have experience using a surface pro 4 as your main method to take notes? I am interested in looking to digitalize my note taking. I am a biochem major if it helps.

I actually tried digitalizing my notes this year and it just didn't work out. Professors sometimes go too fast and while I was trying to organize my notes while they are talking, I'd miss some material. I think it's best just to stick with pen and paper as you're more free to draw necessary images and don't need to spend the extra seconds to edit or format your notes.

I use my surface pro 4 for annotating on PowerPoint presentations using one note. This has worked very well for me as I can also record the lectures so if I do miss anything I can go back and review the material. If the professor does not usually use PowerPoints in lectures I much prefer to use hand written notes as it is just easier to write more legibly with pencil and paper.

Were you using a Surface? It is essentially a limitless piece of paper.

OP, 58 science credit hours over past 4 semesters all on surface pro 3, 3.95 gpa over that time. It's the best school decision I've made, and I try to sell everyone that is interested in mine on one. Get one and watch some youtube videos explaining strategies for using OneNote; I only use the desktop version. 10/10 would recommend.

I use one for most of my classes (eng major). It's been great for classes like bio and chem where I can annotate presentations. Not so great for the math-heavy classes that require a lot of writing. Or if you are someone that just writes a lot of notes, it would probably be worse than paper.

I used to be 100% paper and pen, but I recently got a Surface Book through my work. It's amazing for taking notes. I no longer have to print out 30+ pages of pdfs for physiology every week. I just annotate the slideshows, and I haven't had any problems using OneNote for taking pages and pages of notes in my other classes.

I just bought the IPad Pro and absolutely love it! Don't know how I got through undergrad with paper and pencil. I imagine I'll appreciate it even more next semester in medical school. I use Notability for notes. I imagine the SP4 would also be high quality and a huge help for note taking and studying.
