Any good study resource for Surgery for Step 2?

When I took the shelf, there really was no good REVIEW book for Step 2. Blueprints sucked. I ended up reading Lawrence for info and did Case Files for Step 2. Not to mention most of the shelf was medical management in surgery (a.k.a. Internal Medicine). I ended up reading Surgical Recall for Surgical Subspecialties. I definitely was not going to read Lawrence's Surgical Subspecialty books.

What about just Kaplan Surgery? Any advice would be great.

I wish I knew also Lovella. From what I can tell, Step 2 doesn't have a heavy emphasis on surgery but then again it's not something to blow off. I'm still debating what to use in my final review too.

I heard that the Surgery shelf looked a lot like the MKSAP questions. Most of the surg questions will look like medicine anyway, except trauma. Did anybody hear about this? I'm also trying to find out about Swanson Family med board review, whcih is supoed to be HY for behavioral science??? let me know and GL!

Most of the "surgery" questions on Step II were well-covered in Medicine reviews. The only exception is the shock/trauma chapters, and the A & L question book adequately covered those topics. Good luck.

i used first aid surgery for the shelf, so i plan on breezing through that before the step II exam (easy i guess, since i read it before and highlighted), especially for certain areas like trauma
