Hi Everybody,

I have my step 1 soon. I also got my 3rd year books in and couldnt help but peruse through Surgical Recall for 3rd year clerkships during some "down time". Some of it looks familiar to questions I encountered through FA and UWorld and concepts from DIT...especially the surgical chapters have good tips for clinical anatomy topics. Does anybody who's actually read this book think it would help for some of the more random anatomy questions/wtf questions on Step 1?

Thanks!

The anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to surgery inevitably has an overlap with step 1 material - namely vascular supplies, lymphatic drainages, and the more basic conditions, but it's definitely not high-yield material for step 1. It's not even high-yield material for step 2, as you'll come to find out. The book is solid gold for your surgical rotations and covers 99.9% of one-liners you'll be pimped on, but that's about it.

As for the wtf questions, they tend to be either extremely academic or have a basis in undergraduate sciences (physics, organic chem), so again, the book would not cover those.
