So i was on one of my clinical rotations a few months ago, the syllabus that was given to us clearly stated that for honors you needed a high pass clinical grade AND 80+ on your shelf OR honor clinical grade and 75+ on the shelf.

So I got the former grade with clinical high pass (my entire clinical grade was based on 1 eval because no one else turned it in) and 80+ on the shelf. The clerkship director even said that i could get honors if i scored well on the shelf.

I expected to get honors then all of a sudden i received high pass. As it turns out the syllabus they had given was not updated and the clerkship director didn't know. I needed a Honor/High pass swing grade + 80 on shelf for honors. So now I am stuck with a high pass.

In my opinion this is highly unfair because if I had KNOWN that i needed a swing grade, I would have made extra effort to follow up on evals and made sure the residents even received one. Now 4 months later, I highly doubt they even remember me.

What do you guys think I should do? This is some bull**** bait and switch in my opinion.

Honestly? Sack up and move on. Happened to me too. In the end, didnt matter. If it is in the field you want to go in to, I would go back to the clerkship director, and be "WTF" without the F part and without the tude. Clerkship directors are usually pretty reasonable. If it doesn't have anything to do with what you want in life, let it go. It will be easier for everyone that way.
