i need some help picking out a tablet notebook for school. i've looked at ones made by hp, gateway, toshiba, but don't know that much about laptops. the difference between an intel and amd processor, and what the min. specs on i should be ram, processor speed, etc. and which one is better? from those brands does anyone have any suggestions on which one is more reliable, better quality, and if it is worth getting an extended 2 or 3 year warranty on them. any help that you guys could offer me would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks!!

Do we really need a tablet???

Make sure you go with a company that has decent (read: Local) technical support, especially if you extend your waranty. Nothing like sending your broken laptop to India for 2 weeks and having nothing to do schoolwork on.

The Modbook is pretty enticing, if you like Macs:

I've been looking into Asus R4. It has gotten some really good reviews. However, I don't believe that particular model is using the new santa rosa chipsets so you may want to look into a tablet with it.

Anyone know any stores that carry the Lenovo X60 tablet to try out in NY?

thank you for all of your help guys! this is really helping me out. does anyone know of the minimum features that i should get on it, i'm not a serious gamer and will probably use it for school, internet, music and picture libraries. i want something that i can have for about 4 years while i'm in dental school and that is reliable and if it does break that i don't have to ship it to india to get repaired. i'm looking to spend upto $1800.

i have been recently looking at the HP Pavilion tx1000z series tablet. it looks very nice for the asking price of $999. is a one year warranty enough? also what sorts of hardware specifications should i be looking at? anyone know anything about the durability, reliability, and technical support of this tablet? thanks in advance!
