Are there any groups out there providing tail coverage if you leave or is it standard for the physician to pay the tail? I'm considering whether or not to negotiate this point in my contract. At the very least it would be nice if the group paid my tail coverage if I was terminated "without cause" as opposed to "with cause".

Definitely negotiate tail coverage into your contract. Should you leave the practice for any reason, this can be an expensive sum of money that you would want to not come out of your pockets!

I'm probably not the best source but as a resident looking for a job, I've probably spoken to 8-10 groups, gone on 5 interviews thus far with all 5 offering, and only one has told me they would cover tail insurance (not one of my offers). I like the idea of trying to negotiate that into the contract though, especially if you are terminated, but trying to get "without cause" will be difficult as they can make just about anything up. All it takes is one "mini-M&M" that wasn't even your fault and if they want you out, they could call you incompetent.

You might want to be careful about bringing 'with cause' and 'without cause' into the discussion. Having tail coverage provided only if you are terminated without cause would give financial incentive to the group to terminate you with cause, which probably isn't what you really want.
Ideally you would get an unqualified tail coverage agreement in your contract. If you can't pull that off, you might be able to get a tail coverage agreement that goes into effect after 2-3 years in the group.

We pay tail, whether you are terminated with or without cause. It is an important part of the contract, and try your hardest to negotiate it.
