Applied to 10 schools 2 interviews, 1 wait list (but extremely low quartile)

Stats:
3.14 gpa
3.28 gpa
25P Mcat

DO LOR, 1000 volunteer hours

Do you think I should apply early for class 2018 or retake the mcat. Mcat scares me b/c it will be brand new now and I never took a sociology or psychology course in my life. I really have my heart set on being a DO but I am 28 years old, I really hesitate saying this but...should I start to consider foreign schools? Is there even a foreign school for DO's ?

It is my understanding that this year's MCAT is no different from last year's, except that they removed the writing sample. There is an optional portion at the end with new material that will not affect your score.

I say retake MCAT. In my opinion, you could only improve your score.

Register for a test that will give you enough time to truly prepare for it, and start studying right away so your MCAT score will be released in time not to delay your application submissions. In the mean time check out the sub forums here where people discuss International Medical Graduates.

I've been snooping around them and, well, people don't have a lot of good things to say. Generally, it seems to me that IMGs pick up the unfilled residencies once the US grads get their spots. Folks are saying that with more US and foreign med grads and static residency slots which aren't expanding, competition is growing. There's also a lot of folks worrying about incurring debt. Foreign med school is expensive, and making loan payments in residency is tough.

Anyway, I'm hardly an authority. Just another reapplicant.

Need to take classes over to boost that GPA and take the MCAT over. I started my post bacc at 28 and didn't start DO school until age 32. Take a year and get those numbers up
