We have all heard about and complained about these proposed CMS cuts. It might be that nothing can be done to change it (after all, when does CMS ever want to pay us MORE?), but if you are one of those people like me who are inclined to at least attempt action rather than just complain, consider the following ideas (mostly provided by CAP Statline).
And before anyone wastes time typing it out: Yes, I have duly noted that many of you here don't like CAP for numerous different reasons. That's fine. Feel free to start another thread to complain and argue about it if you like, but please leave it out of here. For the record, here are several examples of CAP actually "doing something" (maybe not meeting your exact demands, but doing something)
1. Email your members of Congress via capwiz: http://www.capwiz.com/cap/issues/alert/?alertid=62791646. Pre-made letter. It takes just a minute.
2. Submit your comments to CMS regarding the proposed cuts: Do this by going to the federal government website, www.Regulations.gov; then search for RIN: 0938-AR56; then click on Comment Now to write your comment. You can free-text here, so feel free to rant and rave about all of your frustrations!
3. If you want more info about the CMS cuts, there is a free CAP webinar on this topic on Aug 7, 3pm Eastern: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/937400832
4. And this one is my personal suggestion. If you use twitter, consider tweeting to your members of Congress. If you don't use twitter, join twitter now and then tweet to your members of Congress. I even created a sample tweet for you :
5. And finally, while you are in action mode, take note that on Aug 1, a House bill attempting to end AP self referral ( Promoting Integrity in Medicare Act of 2013 HR 2914) was introduced. More info: http://capatholo.gy/oQUu8h and http://1.usa.gov/11xtYgn. You might want to tweet or email your Rep about that one too. Here are both of my tweets (I'm @JMGardnerMD on twitter just FYI):

Please protect patients by OPPOSING the "2014 Proposed Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Rule". @JohnBoozman @SenMarkPryor @RepTimGriffin (just insert your two senators and one rep names instead)

Thank you @RepSpeier for introducing HR 2914 Promoting Integrity in Medicare Act of 2013! Pathologists (and our patients) appreciate you! (use verbatim if you like)
Please SUPPORT HR 2914 Promoting Integrity in Medicare Act of 2013. GAO says MILLIONS are wasted by self-referral. @RepTimGriffin (insert your Rep here)
