I intend taking CK in another week. Results won't be out until mid-Oct. Anyway, should I submit my application right away saying "will take" for CK on the exam tab or should I take CK and then submit my application so that I can state "taken" for ck, though it'll mean submitting late by another week?

Submit now. Almost half of interviews (specialty dependent) have been offered by Nov 1st. No programs require CK for an interview, and even fewer require by rank day.

I second the consensus-- submit it even though you haven't taken it yet. Seems like once this september 28th score reporting is done with, people will probably get their scores back in the normal three wednesdays after the date taken. So essentially, the schools should get your updated score pretty fast (if you release it) and hopefully review the whole application (with ck score) in its entirety. I am assuming you want the schools to know and see your score from your original post.

There is no harm to submitting now. But, as an IMG, be aware that many programs will not even look at your application until you have a CK score posted. Whether you list "will take" or "taken and awaiting score" really won't matter, I expect.

Thanks. Will it be better in that case to apply to certain programs by mid-Oct when all my scores are available? My concern is that if some programs have tossed away my application because step 2 scores are missing, they may have tossed it away for good...and won't relook when the scores do become available since they screened me OUT already...
does it happen that way?

somehow i would think that they'd wait for the score (not throw your app out) since we have to list on our applications when we're taking our boards if we haven't already by the time we apply so they know its coming. only issue is if they give out most of their interview spots by the time your score comes in is my guess.

Agreed. No one will "throw away your application" because of a missing Step score. It will simply remain unreviewed until complete. It's possible that a program might decide to review your application with only Step 1, and if your Step 1 isn't great they might decline to interview you, and then would not see your Step 2 when it comes in. I think this would be rare, and the same program might still decide to decline to interview you seeing both Steps 1 and 2. So, overall, I think there is not much harm to applying now, and then awaiting your Step 2 score. But not much benefit either.
