Hello all. So... I've been studying my butt off for the DAT and I've improved since my preliminary test, but I am still not where I'd like to be for the sciences. I've been out of school for two years, so my sciences are rusty, though I did well in class. My test is the second weekend of June. I want to submit early, but don't know if I should postpone the DAT and study some more or just take it weekend after next. I'm inclined to postpone, but the parental unit is pushing me to just take it.

Most recent practice DAT:

AA-- 18
Bio-- 17
Chem-- 17
Orgo-- 16
TS--17
PA-- 18
QR-- 18
RC-- 21

Advice p-p-pleaaaase!

have you been reviewing your wrong answers? i would review those, know why the correct answer is correct and why the wrong answers are wrong... if you still don't fully understand, look up the topic and do practice questions...
if you don't feel comfortable taking it so soon, i would postpone. Let your parents know that you only want to take this once.
Have you turned in your application yet? I don't think you'll be 'late' if you push your dat back by a week or two...
let us know what you decide, good luck!

wait till you are in the 18+ in all sections...

if you feel that in another week or two you would be much more prepared and have memorized more details, then i say just delay it for a week or so. coz the thing is, you can fax your unofficial scores to the schools the day you take your test, and i believe most schools accept that while they wait for the official scores to arrive in the mail.

the other thing is, if you don't feel ready and don't perform as well as you'd like to, you would have to wait for 3 months...

Thanks for your advise. Yesterday I rescheduled the test for the end of June. Hopefully I'll have raised my practice scores by then!!

I found that the Kaplan practice and the TOP score tests were usually harder than the actual DAT, but you should be getting 18-19s if you want to score 20+. Just dont delay the test outside the month of June and be sure to fax that result sheet to every school that will let you.

Is taking the DAT after June not a good idea?

Make sure your app is already submitted. STUDY, STUDY and STUDY!! Its easy to improve your PAT score so practice that up.. Don't be stupid and hope that everything goes ok. Study as if your life depended on it and get ready!
