Is it okay to take the DAT without having taking Organic Chemistry II Lab? I plan to take Organic II Lab later, and I don't want to be at a disadvantage when taking the DAT. Thank you for your help.

to tell you the truth, i am taking my DAT in about 2 weeks, and i haven't even taken Orgo, My college schedule did not allow me to take Orgo before i was planning on taking the DAT, so basically i have been studying for Orgo on my own using Cliff's review notes, My chemistry teachers' Orgo book, and just some diagrams and Models. Basically Orgo I is the only **** covered on the DAT and most of the question involve about a 1/4 of general chem (e.g. moving on the periodic table, electronegativity, solubility) anyway in my opinion you don't need the second lab. I have been scoring about 22-24 out of 30 on the orgo sections on barron's and top score. So relax, but if you aren't solid with the material than wait to take the DAT and rearrange your schedule

Depending on what materials u use to study, not having org. II lab prob. wouldn't really make much difference. I did absolutely terrible in organic I and II lab, and the lecture part of the course also (i think i got a B & C+ when it was all said and done). However, i studied my @SS off for the DAT and got a 25 (98%) on the organic section, so its just a matter of having the right resources and utilizing them to maximum capacity. I did the Kaplan DAT course which provide u with pretty much unlimited resources (i.e. all the practice tests & questions via online resources on the Kaplan website). Its good to get as many old test booklets as u can too.

hope this helps :luck:

No you don't need it at all

you do not need it..but, I'm pretty sure I got a lot of org II related questions on the dat Rozhon...of course, you do not need the lab to learn this

i took the kaplan mock dat and did horrible in the science section so i decided to take advanced orgo.. lol. taking dats in april'ish..

No you dont need the lab,
the lab is to help w/ the lecture
and if you did well in the lecture, you shouldent need to o-chem II lab.
