Hi, all --

I have one semester left and I frankly hate labs. They seem pointlessly tedious, time consuming and largely unrewarding. Next semester is my one opportunity to choose to take or not take a lab. I am taking introductory neurobiology?

Is it worth it to take the lab to those that have taken it? I'm really interested in neuroscience, but I am not sure how much the lab would benefit me...

Thoughts?

It depends on what you mean by "how much the lab will benefit me." What kind of benefit are you looking for? Do you want to do neuroscience bench research in medical school? If so, it would probably benefit you to get exposure to the techniques. It's not going to benefit you much in terms of giving you a leg up in a medical school neuroscience class, though.

I dislike biology labs. The only exception was a biochem lab i took because it was essentially just a chemistry lab with biology applications. The reason is simple: all lab techniques can only be thoroughly learned and practiced in an actual research environment. Some biology lab courses demand unnecessary memorization of useless facts and terms; others require you to waste time writing senselessly long lab reports which TAs/profs will shred them for not satisfying their arbitrary criteria for good science.

Spare yourself the misery and avoid taking a neuroscience lab, especially given your dislike for labs. You can learn that well in a research lab in neuroscience.

Neurophysiology laboratory was the best course I took here. My prereq labs were some of the worst. It really depends how much you enjoy the material and professors.

ENTIRELY dependent on the professor who is in charge of the lab class and who teaches it. We can't give you any good input about that here; ask people in your school who took the class how they liked it and their thoughts on the professor. My feeling though is if you've hated labs all throughout college your opinion probably isn't going to suddenly change alot from this one course. But that's not a guarantee, like I said you got to look into this lab by getting input from people who took the lab.
