[FONT=바탕]Hi. I really thank you for sharing your experience and valuable information on DAT, school application, and everything. I have taken DAT today (5/14). I was wondering if anyone can answer my question. These are my results..

[FONT=바탕]perceptual ability 28 (100.0 percentile).
[FONT=바탕]quantitative reasoning 19 (81.9).
[FONT=바탕]reading comprehension 16 (16.6).
[FONT=바탕]biology 22 (95.2).
[FONT=바탕]general chemistry 22 (88.7).
[FONT=바탕]organic chemistry 27 (98.2).
[FONT=바탕]total science 23 (97.7).
[FONT=바탕]academic average 21 (91.0).

[FONT=바탕]I went to University of Pittsburgh, majored in Chemistry. My science GPA is 3.99, cum GPA is 3.96.

[FONT=바탕]I am concerned with the rc score. I am not a native speaker, and even if I retake the test, I am not confident that I can do much better than this time. Does anyone know if the dental schools have (or any of the school has) some kind of ."[FONT=바탕]cut."[FONT=바탕] score for each section? If there is some kind of ."[FONT=바탕]cut."[FONT=바탕] lists, could anyone tell me where I can find it?.
[FONT=바탕]Thanks in advance..

I heard that there are some schools with cut off score of 17 but some schools don't.
For example, one of my friends got 14 on math but got in 2 months ago~!

I am curious about how so many people are taking DAT on May. Were you able to study for DAT and still do well in classes? or did you already graduate?

Hi, thanks for replying. Do you happen to know which schools have that kind of cut off? I am looking for a list of school cut offs, so that I may be able to contact those schools, and if indeed I am not qualified, I may know which shools to apply or not apply to.

I have graduated. I am not sure about others, but for me, the reason why I took the test in May is so that I may apply early.
Thanks.

Holy perceptual ability batman! I'm not too sure about the RC score. I remember reading somewhere that it's bad to have under 17 RC if you're a non-native speaker. However, you're DAT scores and GPA are very high, with a ridiculous perceptual ability, so cutoffs can be overridden I would think. Your best bet is to call the schools you want to apply to and ask.

congrats on your stellar scores! can you plz share your studying materials? how did you study for PAT? thanks.

Ryltar/ thanks.

purplepanda/ yes hopefully.

nhasifuture/ my study materials:
PAT: CDP
QR: CDM, topscore
Bio: Destroyer, AP Bio, college textbook (Raven)
Gen Chem: Kaplan, topscore, college textbook
O Chem: Destroyer, topscore, college textbook
For PAT, I went over CDP (10 sets) twice. The strategy I had developed was that I spend more time on the angles than people normally say you should. (I spend about or more than 10 minutes.) But I move relatively quickly on some of other sections like hole punching and pattern folding.

How were your scores on CDM and Topscore? I got a 17 then 18 on the first two CDMs. Then I took Topscore math and got a 20. Is this comparable?

How about your other science scores? I got a 15 on Topscore Bio!!! But, in my defense..immune system, nervous system, muscles, endo, etc. was never covered in Bio I or II for me.

Thank you!!

It was a little tough for me to get in w/ 16 RC.
I had 7 interviews but alot of schools still asked about my RC score & how it didnot correlate w/ the rest scores & GPA...
Just prepare to back up for it during interview...
You've got solid scores & GPA's...
I'm pretty sure you'll get in but it might not be the HARVARD...
Good Luck...:xf:

purplepanda/ For CDM, I got around 20 for the first few tests and around 25 towards the end. For topscore, I don't have the record, so I don't know the scores exactly. But I think I got around 22 for all of them. I felt that the real exam was harder because there were more word problems than in CDMs or topscore. I can't really predict your score, and I guess it depends on which type of test you get. But I would think that if you are good at word problems, you will do better on the real thing. And again I don't have the topscore scores for the science, but I thought that topscore was very comparable overall especially for the science. Good luck!

brightsmiles9/ Thanks.

kino11/ Thanks.

dentist707/ Thanks for the advice. I will be prepared for the interview.

Wow, so far the stats that I've seen for this year blows me away. I really wanna see this cycle turns out. I'm glad that our field is becoming real competitive.

OP: Your RC will def hold you back at top tier schools but the rest of your scores are frikin sick. I'm sure you'll get in somewhere.

I hate to say this! Despite your amazing scores in all other sections, your low RC score might hurt you. To give you an example, if you look at UCLA's website, they have specifically mentioned that they will look for high PAT and RC scores (specially in case of individuals who are not native speakers). Now, the question is whether or not you should retake? With your scores, I don't think so!
A decent RC score is anything above 20. If you find it hard to get that score, don't risk retaking the exam, because you may end up getting lower scores on the other sections.

Good Luck!
