I'm going to graduate with a degree in Engineering, so I had to take a couple of quarters of Calculus based physics, but since I'm pursuing medicine now and medical schools require 1 year of physics, I still have to take a semester of physics. So, can I just take Algebra based physics 1 to count for my missing physics credits or do medical schools require me to take a more advanced physics class since I have already taken calculus based physics 1 and 2? Thank for your responses!

Calculus Based Physics 1 and 2 satisfies the requirement. You don't need to take anything else.

Well, that depends. He said he's taken two quarters of physics, in which case he would need to take one more (physics 3), since one year of physics is divided into 3 classes on that system. I would just talk to your prehealth advisor to see if taking the remaining semester algebra based would be ok.

I had to take calc based physics but if you can take algebra, do it, its sooo much easier, its literally a joke...just plug and chug

Algebra based is definitely easier and I really can't see why it would be an issue as that is what med schools require. On the other hand calc based physics is nice for the MCAT (in my opinion) though DEFINITELY NOT a requirement, as you would likely have a better understanding of how formulas relate to and are derived from each other and wouldn't really need to "know" as many formulas. But your background in engineering would probably be more than enough to help in that area.

Did you get quarter hours? You really do need two semester and that is what one poster was trying to say. Best is to contact school directly instead of relying on well meaning but questionable advise.

Oh another thing...are you still majoring in Engineering? I thought they pretty much required calculus based anyways as part of the core pre-requisites, regardless of what you plan to do afterwards. Anyways, you should definitely talk to your advisor...
