I've been planning out my schedule for the next year or so and I realized that it would make my life much easier if I was able to take classes in the summer before I matriculated to a SMP. I vaguely remember seeing that some medical schools wouldn't let you do this and I can't seem to find any information on SMPs allowing/not allowing this. I would be done with the summer classes by the time the SMP starts obviously. If anyone would like to share any information on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I did it before starting at BU. Just make sure you finish before your classes start, and give yourself a week of relaxing before you move out to wherever you're going.

What would be the benefit of doing more classes before the SMP? Do the credits transfer? Are they key courses that you really wished have learned? Or are you just doing it to keep yourself brushed up?

Since you are already accepted, I would take the very valuable time and do something that you truly wanted to do. Make it into a summer that you would never regret. However, for most people that ends up being a summer to study MCATs or doing additional work to make themselves more competitive for med school. Possibly do an international program somewhere related to health field? Possibilities are endless 🙂

All SMPs, I have seen, don't care what you do within the summer long as the starting dates don't interfere. In fact, some even accept students within the first starting week of school to fill in additional slots.

Yea unless you have a really good reason to be doing coursework, you really should be doing something better with your time. Do something adventurous, because I PROMISE that your smp will suck 9 months of vitality out of you.
