I am applying for the 2007 Application cycle and have been studying for DAT this past month and a half.

I've never taken DAT before and am planning to take it for the first time in late May, early June.

If my scores are unsatisfactory, and I decide to take a second DAT, how late would you guys recommend that I take it?

I am done with all application preparation in advance (personal info., personal statements, whom to approach for LORs, etc) and plan to send everything in before June 1. Only thing that would hold my application being processed would be the official DAT scores being sent out after my first try in June and a second try in July, I am thinking for now.....

Would this hold up my application being processed, even though I am sending all my stuff in as early as possible?

Would appreciate feedback from those that have applied and have experienced the speed at which DAT scores are sent to AADSAS, or more so from those of you guys that had to take the DAT for the second time so soon following your first trial.

Thanks a lot.

I personally don't think it's to late. There may be a few supper overachievers that will tell you to submit all your info now!

Remember that it will take AADSAS at least a few months to send the application to the schools.

I took mine in late July and got into Case, which I believe is one of the first schools to start interviewing candidates. I think even taking the DAT in August should be ok but may be pushing it a bit for schools that start reviewing applications early. The ADA sends out the official scores very quickly (around a week for me) so as long as your AADSAS application has reached the school, there should be no problems.

I feel that you should be prepared to take the DAT only once. You can only take the DAT again 90 days after the first one. Set your goal for maybe late June, and if you're not ready by then, simply postpone it to a later date.

Good luck.

But just remember you have to wait i think 90 days before you can take the DAT a second time. so if you took it in june and wanted to retake it, that would mean you cant take it til september. hope this helps in your planning. good luck!

That's not even close to too late...Most schools don't even start reviewing applications until mid-late August. I took the DAT on Nov. 28th of last year, and I'm pretty sure I'm getting into one of the three Texas schools....with a 20 AA.

So, if you take it in July, you are definitely in good shape to get an interview before the first round of acceptances go out.

It's definitely not too late. I took DAT only once, and it was at the end of this past August and I received acceptances on Dec 1st. You will be in fine shape.
