As the title says - retaking MCAT July 6, just want to know if submitting my app in mid August will hurt me.

no, but submit AMCAS in june, have your LORs ready and fill out your secondaries in july, so you can be verified on the day your scores come in, and complete at most schools within days.

If you do this, you'll save 4-8 weeks in turnover time

the essay prompts are all posted on SDN as soon as they released. You'll get the actual secondaries within days of receiving your MCAT score (if you submit AMCAS in June), and can therefore submit your secondaries on the same day they are received, if you did them in advance

In SDN world, taking a July MCAT can be considered late as your score won't be released until a month later which is August. Some schools start sending out their earliest interview invites in mid to late August if not even sooner. Some schools send you secondaries even before you have your MCAT score so you might get a head start on those. Some on the other hand will take much longer, up to a month after your score has become available. That said, the earlier poster is absolutely right in advising you to get everything else in before you even sit for the test. Have your transcripts sent to AMCAS and verified well before then. Write all of your secondaries while you wait for your MCAT score. If you have a solid application, being complete in August or September can't hurt you that much.

Some schools will send you a secondary 'immediately' after you submit your primary. I submitted my primary in July (w/o) a MCAT score and got 2 secondaries within a day or so.
