Hey, I would really like to know if taking a lower division Human biology class looks bad. Specifically, I have already taken many upper division courses (Genetics, biochem, etc), and received A-/A grades

The reason why i want to take this class is because my school doesnt allow me to take certain upper division courses as i do not have the prereqs (ex: some classes are restricted for majors). Additionally, im hoping to raise my science gpa so that its high enough.

I would really like to know if this is alright? basically, im taking this course and an upper division neuroscience class (require molecular biology and physics) in addition to an elective physics class (the physics of music) and a public health class.

your clarification would be appreciated.

If the lower division class is related to your major I would stay away because it'll look like you're trying to get an easy A. But in general I don't think it's bad to take an introductory class to raise your sGPA. You're excuse can be that you "needed units and the class sounded interesting."

For example, I recently took an introductory immunology class because it sounded interesting, it was easy, it is related to medicine, gpa booster and I needed to fill units. I am an exercise physio major which doesn't relate to immunology so I was A-OK to take it.

I REALLY want to know the answer to this as well. I'm in the same exact boat as you! I'm a non-science major and a lot of upper division classes reserve seats so that biology majors have priority. I'm running out of classes I can take lol

I really appreciate your response. These classes do not relate to my major at all. I think thats what im going to do (take these classes). I am taking upper division classes so that in addition to my other upper division science grades (A's in genetics and biochem) should prove to them. What do you all think?

I hope not, cause I took introductory classes just so i can get prepared for the harder ones.
