Hey guys. I have a question. I'm planning to apply DO as well as MD. Here's my situation. As a college freshman, I was a *****. I did very poorly in my classes including getting a D in baby bio not for science majors. At that time, I wasn't a pre-med major so I didn't take any science major classes nor any pre-med pre-requisites. Anyway, now I'm almost done with all my pre-med pre-requisites and my science GPA is a perfect 4.0, except for that one D. I know that DO schools replaces the first grade instead of averaging them, so my only chance of getting a 4.0 science GPA, which I need since my overall GPA sucks, is to retake that baby bio. I've already taken Bio I and Bio II for science majors, so would it look really bad if I take baby bio again since I already took the upper division ones? It's the gunner in me, but I realy want that 4.0 science GPA.

D*MN gunners!!!!! Just kidding. I am probably one too, just don’t want to admit it! I was also shooting for the 4.0 science GPA but the O. Chem. II landed me with a B this during this summer semester. I was pretty bummed for about 10 minutes I thought I nailed the final, I guess not. I am not going back to O. Chem. again so I will just settle with the B in that one. I have retaken a class and have read a number of threads about it and from what I have gathered it should not look bad and there are a number of people who do it. Good luck.

take full advantage of the retake policy. have you completed lots of sci credits beyond the 'minimums'?
