If I am taking my MCAT this late does it matter when I send my AMCAS in? I was about to send it in yesterday after talking with y per-med advisor, but he said because schools won't get my MCAT scores until late September, I just need to have my secondaries in by around then too, so I could wait a couple weeks if I wanted to submit the primary (just to spruce up my personal statement, since I only did 6 Drafts).

If I send in my primary app next week, will I be getting my secondaries by the end of August?

Also, I am retaking the MCAT because my verbal score was very low though I had high PS and BS scores (12 on PS and 11 on BS) and my GPA is a 3.74c (3.724s). My AMCAS application is solid but nothing too crazy/special...still good chance I'll get into med school with a late-ish app?

Thanks guys!

Some schools do screening pre-secondary, while other schools simply send their secondaries later than usual. So, it is possible that you might not get "all" secondaries by the end of August, but I would think that you will get the most of them by then.

How low was your verbal score? If it is not 7 or below, then I am debating if you should complete your applications early, or hope for a better MCAT score and complete them late. Many people choose to complete early this cycle, study more for MCAT to retake next year, and prepare re-app next cycle if needed. Yes, some people do get in after being complete in late september, but chances are lower and there's no guarantee.

agree with Lya, unless your verbal section is very very low (below 7) I would submit now and prepare for re-app if needed after a hopefully improved score. Secondaries don't just magically get done and if you start to get them in late september they won't be done for 2-3 weeks after that at the earliest.

My Verbal score was a 4...not sure how that happened considering I had never gotten below a 6 on verbal during practice tests. Anyway yes haha I have to retake it!

That's fair, well good luck OP! Pick up a good book between now and then and crush through it 30-60 minutes at a time before bed. I'm a strong believer that even childish (but super awesome) books like harry potter really help if you're not used to crushing through 4 thousand pages of text. The verbal section is mostly about reading skill, if you can read faster it's that much easier.

Thank you! Yes I've been doing that for the past couple weeks and brushing up on the sciences...planning to get up to speed on all the sciences by the end of july and then just take practice tests and LOTS of verbal tests/reading a lot 🙂

If you haven't' jumped on the game of thrones bandwagon yet, those books are long and actually require a pretty engaged amount of reading to understand and fully enjoy. The author has a confusing way of transitioning scenes that makes it a bit difficult to follow at times if you're not paying attention. They're also awesome.

I've only heard good things about those books...good suggestion!
