Can we jot down notes during the prep time in a live interview on Kira? are we being recorded during prep time? the school has no certain position on whether this is allowed or not on their website.

no, because i wasnt told beforehand that the interview would be MMI style so i just assumed we could take notes when i saw the 3 min prep timer. should i email them and tell them that i took notes?

I don't think it really matters if you take notes. As long as they didn't explicitly say you couldn't, I think you are fine.

Just to clarify, I think there's a difference between "taking notes" and using AI for your answers. You don't mention how you were using Kira, but since it is an AI based platform that would change my answer.

Taking notes on a pad of paper or a text document would be one thing, using assistive AI in any way to help organize your thoughts or shape your answers would be very different.

::edit:: I realize now that your post may not have been referring to the AI software Kira, but rather the interview software Kira. Too many things using the same name.

I jotted pen and paper notes during mine. Haven't heard anything from the schools that I'm cancelled or anything

I structured my thoughts a bit on a notepad and during the MMI I mentioned I was glancing at my notes I took during my 3 minutes. It made sense to me in the moment so we'll see lol

I don't have any issue with taking notes (provided notes are not expressly forbidden). However, with both MMI and traditional interviews, you want to make sure that you are fully present, listening alertly, and sending the proper non-verbal cues to the interviewer. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good: jotting down a few bullet points to ensure that you hit all your points may be a good idea, but relying too much on notes could be detrimental.

Hm this is interesting. I wouldn't look at notes during a traditional "tell me about a time" questions, but its expected that we structure thoughts and refer to notes to open ended or case questions for industry positions. I guess medical school interviews are different! thanks for explaining
