sorry for the repost but I need advice

which score do schools normally use when someone's taken the pcat multiple times? the highest score? the most recent score? i plan on retaking the pcat in jan because I got a 73 composite for the on in october. the reason I got a 73 was because I got a 7 on my reading comp.😡 🙁 😡 i'm really bad on these portions of standardized exams.

i got 93 on math, 89 on chem., 71 on verbal, 74 on biology and 3 on essay.

comp. 73

does the composite score outweigh the other scores i got in individual sections?

should I retake the pcat or try to get in with this score? i have also low GPA, comperatively speaking!

MOST schools take the recent PCAT score, so you can take it as many times as you like. Though I think your score is quite decent. But it is also depends on your GPA and Extracurricular activities. You said your GPA is low, but is it over the min requirement of the uni that you are thinking of applying? If your GPA and PCAT are both over the requirements, and you have excel extracc---you have a good shot of getting in. In that case, I wouldn't rewrite the test again if I were you and save the time and money for other important things.

you know, i would try to call some schools and not tell them your name but ask them what are your chances with your composite as well as mentioning that your reading score is 7. some schools require that you pass with a certain minimum on each subject. Some schools that is. I have a composite of 72 and my lowest is also reading - 30 and 45 (i took it twice). and several schools contacted me for interviews as well as one or two acceptances. be sure to apply to schools that dont require pcats too.

oh btw, they take the highest score (mostly emphasize on the composite rather than the individual scores). and just to say: I THINK THE READING COMP IS CRAPPY TO THE EXPONENTIAL. so you arent alone in that issue.

so my advice is to call some schools and ask them what they think. it doesnt hurt, and from there you can make a more informed decision.

I got in the 83rd percentile in the reading, and a 4 on my writing--everything else I did pretty bad on--but I can kick butt in reading/writing any day of the week! 😀
