Before I get pies thrown at me, I've read similar threads and here's my situation. I appreciate your answers and opinions.

I've already taken Chem 1 at a community college last semester. I'm doing the rest of my pre-reqs at Berkeley Ext.

For this semester, should I take Chem 2 at UC Berkeley Extension instead? I've been advised by students and professors that I should at least finish Chem 2 at the community college, since the transition would be difficult. What are your thoughts?

It is recommended to do all prerequisites at a 4 year school if you can finance it, but as for being harder, that depends on the professor and college. My CC had a very challenging Chemistry department.

I took one year of general biology and one semester of general chemistry at a community college. I also took micro biology and anatomy at a cc and it was never an issue with any of the schools were I interviewed. I would probably finish up the last semester of chemistry at the cc, although you can check with the med schools you are interested in applying to and make sure they don't have issues with cc credits.

agree with others and think you should finish off the gen chem series at the same place you took gen chem 1. Just make sure you do very well in the more advanced courses at UCB Extension (organic and Biochem).

On a personal note: I took my gen chem at a CC and O. Chem + Biochem at a 4yr & UCB Ext. I was never asked about my CC coursework. You just have to keep your grades up and consistent across institutions and no one will have any reason to speculate.

I'm in your boat and opted to take G-chem II at UC Berkeley in Belmont this upcoming semester. I took G-Chem I at Canada College at the start of my post-bac.

Taking the class at UC Berkeley-Ext for me has more to do with scheduling, though a small minority of schools I'm interested in state that they strongly prefer that classes be taken at 4 yr school. I'm deferring the lab till later. Without work, I likely would have still opted this route and only took a class at Canada b/c it was the only one that fit my schedule (familiar theme).

I already took the o-chem sequence (without a lab) and biochem at UC Berkeley Extension. I realize I took them out of order.

Community college is perfectly fine for chemistry. I took the maximum amount of classes in community college and did not hurt my app at all when applying
