Here's what I have right now:

  • FA
  • Sketchy videos
  • Pathoma videos
  • USMLE-Rx Question Bank (3000 Q's)
  • BRS Physiology + BRS Biochemistry
  • Goljan Pathology Book
I'm willing to spend money to get additional resources like Uworld down the road. How best should I go about my coursework while making sure I'm preparing for Step 1 accurately?

Thanks for any advice you guys can offer!

IMO, get rid of goljan and BRS and get boards and beyond. 12 months? While still in school or just on your own time?

Why would he skip literature that is going to give him the knowledge base that he will need to fully understand the compacted review sources?

1) That's too many resources IMO.

2) I found USMLE-Rx trash. UWorld is king.

3) I think FA is worthless as something to study from, unless you're a rote memorization kind of person. It's good as a resource to sort of show you what kind of information you should know, but you shouldn't study it or learn from it.

4) Focus on doing well on your exams. Stick with the coursework, and learn it all thoroughly as you go.

How dare you

well the BRS book is not literature to understand material. It's a review book. Boards explains the material in more detail. Costanzo physiology is a book you'd get to understand material but imo boards does the job about as well in video format. Goljan is old and way too long. Boards also covers all of the path in pretty good detail. I guess goljan is alright but id only do that if you have free time or drive/walk a lot.

One should still do all 3 major Q-banks should they want to score high,

I recommend you to know these super well
  • FA
  • Pathoma
  • USMLE-Rx, Uworld and Kaplan (the Q-banks)
And since you have so much time, add in
* Robbin's Basic Pathology (to understand the concepts fully)
* Zanki

Do these, and you get at least 262 step 1.

To consider but not necessary for 262: Boards and beyond, Scetchy (micro/pharm).

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll definitely take it into consideration as I go through my studies and coursework over the next year in preparation for step.
