I won't be able to take Step 1 until next Aug or Sept, and I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth waiting to purchase the 2013 edition of First Aid (released next Jan, IIRC?).

I have a 2011 edition that I occasionally glanced at this past year when studying for some classes, but one of my friends going into M3 advised investing in a newer edition since she found that there were some helpful additions between one year's version and the next when she was studying for the test.

Basically, I'm curious to hear other people's thoughts on whether they felt that additions to newer versions of First Aid warrant a re-purchase. I imagine the 2013 edition would be most relevant in terms of content for a 2013 test, though the 2012 version in full-color looks kinda nice.

just wait. 2012 edition was really annoying and full of errors. there were diagrams where they made red = stimulatory and green inhibitory

I think you should definitely purchase FA 2013 when it comes out in Jan, and then it's up to you regarding purchasing 2012 for use during 1st semester of MS2.

I will say I thought having FA was helpful to use along with systems during the fall semester, esp since 2nd year is a huge portion of Step 1 material (for most schools / depending on your school curriculum)

You already have the 2011 edition; you can use that to follow along in classes if you want. Wait until 2013 comes out and buy that for your dedicated Step 1 studying.

Oh yes if you have the 2011 edition definitely use that in the fall, then in Jan I'd buy FA 2013

id buy kaplan medessentials instead of fa 2012, and use fa 2011 and kaplan me side by side

Don't buy FA 2012, it is full of errors, you are better off w/ FA 2011 for now, and buy FA 2013 when it comes out (hopefully it won't be as bad).

Wait... You are only starting now? You should have begun years ago
