Taking Step II Without a Surgical Rotation

It is looking like both of my surigical rotations may be in my 4th year. Will this hurt me when I take step II at the end of my third year?

Ehh you can read what you need to without the rotation. I had a freakin nurse as my preceptor during my first surgery rotation and pretty much did my own thing during most of my second rotation, barely read a thing, and still did very well on step 2.

I bought NMS and some other books for surgery and didn't read a bloody thing during both rotations.

You could probably do the UWorld questions, FA section, and that surgery guide everybody seems to like (blanking on the name) and be totally fine. That is what I did and it worked fine.

Step 2 without Surgery is definitely doable. I'd say surgery is possibly the lowest-yield subject in Step 2 alongside maybe Psych. Most of the questions are answerable through UWorld alone. Its mostly trauma as well, so as long as you can get those steps down you should be fine.
