No it is not bad to take prerequisites during the summer. It is NOT bad to take courses at another university, but if you step down to a community college, however, that is looked down upon. This is true in all cases.

Most schools don't care if its from a community college, at least of the schools I applied to. I remember reading it on the website of different schools when applying, that being said, some schools do say it may make a difference. VCU and Colorado are 2 schools that put it in the FAQ sections on their websites.

It does not matter if you take a course over them summer. I took some pre-req labs over the summer because there wasn't enough seats in the lab when I tried to register during the fall/spring semesters... and it wasn't look down upon (to my knowledge).

Doubt it makes a difference. What does makes a difference is whether or not you do well in the class. They'll notice a grade before they notice which semester you took the class in.

I don't see why it would be looked down upon. You are covering the same amount of material in a shorter time frame.

Agreed with first post. As long as you're not stepping down (to a CC or the like), it shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't really see why it would matter. If anything you should be commeneded for taking a semester long class (science class at that) in only 5 weeks...as for this whole CC thing, from what I got from U of R (I live near rochester) is that it doesn't matter if you take a couple prerequisites at CC. In fact I'm taking calculus this summer at a local community college myself.
