So I have been considering taking the MCAT in the end of summer of 2011 (I plan to apply in 2012 for the 2013 year), as that way, I would have the whole summer free to study for the exam. I would have already finished all of my pre-req classes by the summer also.

Does this seem like a good idea, as it would give me more time without having to worry about other classes. I am not sure as to how the application process works and in sending out your scores to school, can you have it set to send out but to be considered for the year after? Also, how long are MCAT scores valid as far as med schools are concern? Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea to me...do it while everything is still fresh. I believe most schools take MCAT's up to three years old.
