taking time off between 3rd and 4th year...advice appreciated

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone has some insight on taking time off before applying for surgery residency...I am currently a M3 who want to take about two years off studying something totally different from medicine(namely seminary) between my 3rd and 4th year...I am mostly interested in good community programs like Carolinas or Inova Fairfax and I am a decent medical student(around top 25%) at a middle tier school(around top 65 or so). Would it hurt me a lot if I take these two years off doing this? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂
