This thought popped into my head today...

When working as a PT, is it difficult to coordinate vacation time?

It seems like you are very involved with each patient, and they are not all going to be ready for discharge when you want to take a week off.

What happens to your patients? PTA's go through the exercises? Patients get scheduled around your time off?

In my experience, their SOAP notes are usually detailed enough so that any PT can pick up their chart and know what to do.

At the places I've worked, although each patient did basically have only one therapist, it wasnt uncommon that a secondary or tertiary therapist was assigned.

i work in an office where there are about 7 physical therapists on staff, and each of them has a PTA. Whenever one wants to take off, the office manager just asks around until they can find either a PTA or PT to cover for them. If you have your own private practice and you are the only PT there, then it is a different story.
