I was wondering about your thoughts about physical therapist having tattoos. I really want to get a tattoo on my forearm but I know for most health profession are pretty conservative so i'm a little hesitant. Any thoughts on this this? thanks!

I wouldn't do it unless you never want to wear short sleeves. It's safe to say most professional environments (of any field) don't support visible tattoos. You can do it if you want, and it may not hurt you, but I definitely don't ever see it helping.

I have a tattoo on my forearm, and it has not been a problem for me professionally. When I have worked at jobs that required me to cover it, I just wore 3/4 length sleeves. I have also shadowed PT's with visible tattoos as well, didn't seem to be a problem for them either. I do live in a less conservative area though, so if you live somewhere pretty conservative maybe reconsider. And make sure you cover it for any interviews 🙂

I was concerned about this as well! I am a rehab tech and I have a wrist tattoo, at my interview and my first couple weeks of working I covered it with a watch or a bracelet. The setting that I'm in is laid back and everyone has tattoos like the PTs and PTAs and it's no problem as long as it's appropriate! 🙂
I would say it's not a problem as long as you cover it up until you are comfortable with the setting and understand their rules! It should be okay though we live in a society where everyone has tattoos and it's not frowned upon like it once was!

Just depends on your setting. Some places will tel you to cover up and others are more lax. The places I've observed, a lot of the PTs had small tattoos. One had an upper arm sleeve but that was generally covered up (she wore a sleeveless shirt? blouse? whatever it's called and took off the coat when she was in her office and bam right in mah face).

I have a forearm tattoo and all places I've worked and volunteered at didn't mind it at all....

Cross-posted in PT for everyone's information. OP, please don't cross-post.
