Have 'em, want 'em, like 'em, hate 'em, be able to cover 'em, strategically place 'em, many of 'em, guys and/or girls look good in 'em? Just curious what our future dental "professionals" thoughts are...

What is the point of this question? Isn't this site about helping each other through school and such? But to answer your question, in terms of practicing, they are ok as long as they aren't visible. I certainly would never get something visible because you will lose patients' respect.

I'm definitely pro. You can definitely survive dental school with tattoos and be just fine.

for sure. Tattooed veins, arteries, nerves, and muscles all over my body. Anatomy was too damn easy. Then, when the semester was over, I took a shower and washed all that ink off.

downside = not showering for a whole semester.

or is it an upside?

I can't wait until I have the cash to get some good ink. I'll stay away from the neck tattoos and that teardrop I earned for killing a man in prison, but anything that is comfortable while covered up is game.

Ugggh! That is one fad I have just never understood. I have NEVER seen a tattoo on a girl that I thought was sexy. NEVER! And if it's not sexy at 25 it sure as heck isn't going to be sexy 10 yrs and 2 kids later. Ewww...

I just got a tatto:laugh:o on my face of a surgical mask and on my hands some latex gloves. It is AWESOME!

Must be one of those opinion things. I happen to find body art incredibly sexy, especially when it's well done. 👍

HA

I dont think I would ever get one myself... especially not in a highly visible area. I think a dentist or any other professional with visible tattoos would have a hard time because of it. But if they are covered, then patients obviously wouldnt know about them and they wouldnt be an issue.

As for tattoos on girls.... it dosnt really do much for me. Depending on what and where it is, I'm either indifferent about it or I think it looks bad or trashy.

But will your future cash paying 50 year old patients find them attractive enough to keep coming back to you after they make their 1st impression????

That's literally the multi million dollar question:idea:

I don't have a single tattoo and don't plan on getting one any time in the near future. 👍

As long is not in a very conspicuous place then it should be fine. I think the risk is that it may not look professional if you have it on the arms and don't cover yourself with long sleeve shirt.

I was going to chime in with this. As long as your tattoos aren't on your face, neck or hands, none of your patients ever have to know about them. My girldfriend, a D2, has several medium to large tattoos which consistently surprise people at non-school events. Why? Because they never show at school.

pics please😀

I have three. One on each ankle and one on my shoulder. I love them, my husband loves them and so do my kids. But you can only see them if I am in shorts and a tank top, which I don't wear that often. Oh and I'll be getting two more, one on the other shulder and one on the small of my back.

The tatoos are a way for me to be 'me' under all the professional garb.

My cow tatoo is a real conversation starter.🙂

The Star of David on my shoulder gets people to stop trying to convert me🙂

And the roses are from my husband😀
