I was thinking about applying for TBI/Neurorehab fellowships this year but was having a hard time finding information on TBI/Neurorehab fellowship programs. If anyone has a list of fellowships that would help me out a lot. I have only found a hand full of TBI fellowships out there. Does anyone know which program has the best training? When do apps go out? When do programs usually make there descisions? Is TBI/Neurorehab fellowship competitive?
Any information would be great. Thanks a ton

Try the aapmr website, search their database of different fellowships.

They have information listed there as well. If you are not a member, you should join. As a resident its only $70.
Sorry, I don't know any specifics about the fellowships.

Also checkout the AAP website for fellowship programs (www.physiatry. org). The American Society of Neurorehab has a fellowship database. Historically, TBI/neurorehab fellowships have not been competitive. Kessler and JFK have excellent TBI and neurorehab fellowships. As a med student, I thoroughly enjoyed my TBI rotation at JFK. Carolina has always been a strong TBI facility. Pitt had a strong reputation as well. However, I am not sure if the program was discontinued since Dr. Zafonte went to Spaulding.

I had a fellow resident who did a neurorehab fellowship at Cornell's Burke Rehab hospital (definitely apply) and he only applied to a few places within the NY tri-state area. I do not know the specifics regarding the timeline for applications and interviews. Neurorehab is a great way to go if you have a strong interest in academics, research, and possibly becoming a director of an inpatient rehab unit.
