Hello! I was wondering if anyone could provide statistics for those admitted into the early decision program at TCOM in the past couple of years. I am very interested in attending TCOM but I know it's sort of a gamble to go through EDP. I would hate to not be accepted and not be able to apply anywhere else until late in the cycle.

Does it mean you can't apply anywhere else? I thought it only meant that if you get accepted, it's binding. I applied EDP, so should I change it ? I have not taken the mcat

Yeah! I thought the same thing :/ the wording is a little tricky on their page but you're not allowed to apply anywhere until after.

"Decisions on EDP applicants will be made by September 15. If you are accepted under the EDP, you are obligated to accept the offer. Applicants who are not accepted under the Early Decision program are free to apply to other schools."

That last part is where it says it. After Sept 15th if we're not accepted then we can apply to other schools through TMDSAS.

Yes, you can't apply anywhere else until they have made a decision.

Lol I didn't take it lie that. I still read it and think that it just means AFTER being accepted, you must go there, but I don't think they can stop you from applying elsewhere. If so, I need to contact and change my secondary! Has anyone else completed their app?

That's why when you select schools under the TMDSAS application if you choose the early decision program through TCOM it removes all other schools. But I guess to be on the safe side we should call and ask for additional information. I have finished the TMDSAS app but not the secondary.

Oh. Well TCOM was the only Texas school I'm applying to so I guess this doesn't apply to me? Lol

Only apply early decision if you are an outstanding applicant.

I'm not. Haha. I don't even have the mcat yet . I would say I'm an average applicant for TCOM but man doesn't it suck they don't do grade replacement

Basically, early decision is for a super qualified applicant who knows they have the #s to get in and doesn't want to waste money applying to 20 schools when they will be perfectly happy with one. It is not for people with below average stats who think it will prove to the school how dedicated they are to going there. At least that is my understanding. Almost everyone is better off just submitting into the general pool.
