Yayee! I just checked my TCOM status page (at 4 am in the morning =T) and it said I have been selected for an interview!! I am sooo excited. If anyone has interviewed there, how was it, what was the breakdown, etc...? Did they drill you about osteopathic principles? Thanks for any advice!

I interviewed there on Friday. It's a small group of about 7 people interviewing. You meet different people in the admissions office first, then go on a drive through Ft. Worth with a med student and have lunch at the botanical gardens. Then u get a tour, and then 2 interviews. My interviewers didn't drill me on osteopathic stuff (they actually both said that my secondary essays sufficed on that topic). They were interested in my clinical experience mostly - they're looking for people who will make good primary care docs, not necessarily MD vs. DO. I was impressed by the school, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Nov. 15. Good luck and congrats!

Thanks Chaeymaey. The interview sounds laid-back. I really want to stay in TX so I don't want to blow this interview. My friend recently had an interview there and was drilled about why osteopathic medicine, etc... I hope my secondaries were good. I spent a lot of time on it. In fact, doing my TCOM secondaries lead me to apply to out-of-state D.O. schools. =)

I got drilled a little bit about Osteopathic principles by my second interviewer but we didn't dwell too much on the subject. I wouldn't sweat it too much. just have some idea of what it is.

know about osteopathy. it's a very very good chance that you will be asked what you think it is and don't just regurgitate "holistic medicine" and "OMM." think about it a little more and be able to put it in your own words.

overall it's a very laidback interview day and everyone tries to be very welcoming so it's not at all stressful.

 Interview at TCOM on Nov 7th...anybody else?

Hey there! I'm also interviewing at TCOM Tuesday, Nov. 7. I guess I am going to see you there. This is my first interview so I am really excited and nervous. I need to prepare. =)

ms_taken, may I ask when your app was complete with TCOM? Thanks

My TMDSAS application was complete on 8/23 and they received it on 8/24. I turned in my Secondary Application on 9/15. I was complete, but they were waiting for my August 2006 Mcat scores. I didn't hear from them until 10/23. Don't worry too much. My Mcat scores were below their avg last year.
