I saw this while driving and a thought came to my head.. I met a surgeon who went to an allopathic medical school in NY and now he works as a professor at TCOM but still says "I'm very biased about MD programs, we just have better programs and clinical experience...." Let me add this is NOT the surgeon on the billboard, but I wonder why the negative comments and you work at an OSTEOPATHIC school? Who is obviously doing very well given this billboard...

He meant residency programs i.e. ACGME vs AOA. Most people at TCOM think the same way.

It's not a billboard for UNTHSC in Fort Worth, it's a billboard for UNT in Denton. Evidently Dr Sandoval went to UNT. (So did Dr Phil BTW).

one of the AOA presidents a few years ago called TCOM the crown jewel of DO schools

I suspect that, as a surgeon, he was referring to 4th year elective rotations for certain surgical subspecialties such as available at Baylor and Southwestern. Anyway, I don't think he was trying to diss a school that's giving him a paycheck (or his surgery chair, who is a DO).

Why would he be talking about 4 year rotations, and telling me not to apply DO. I don't see how that correlates with the conversation I had with him. But I digress. Thanks for the feedback.
