OP - Can you clarify that TCOM means Texas here and not Touro??
Some people seem to mix that up. I think people above may have assumed you meant Texas...but I don't know!

KCUMB is a great school but the tuition is pretty high... I think you would get a great education at either place, but it would definately be nice to save some money!!

#1 reason I would pick it? Top hospital affiliations/rotations, and great board scores = best options for residencies. I don't know if there is a better DO school out there.

I just interviewed at TCOM today. I have to say, I am very impressed with this school.

Pros:
1.) Very high-tech (plasmas, cameras, computers) with great anatomy software to use during anatomy lab.
2.) SAFE campus = no crime
3.) Great Match List
4.) 4,000+ hours of clinical experience before you graduate (above national avg.)
5.) Modified integrated systems approach = focus on one system at a time
6.) 100% Comlex pass rate
7.) Big and updated library (open until 12 and later during finals)
8.) Patient contact during first years
9.) Two SIM mans
10.) Good number of affiliated hospitals
11.) Less class time (lectures) during second year = more studying time
12.) Cheap tuition and cost of living
13.) Friendly environment
14.) Professors are accessible and approachable
15.) Lectures recorded

I don't have anything negative to say bc I haven't interviewed at other osteopathic schools.

I know rankings are just numbers, but coming from a pretty reliable source:

TCOM is ranked by US News as one of the top schools in the nation for Primary Care.

Plus...Texas is awesome! 😛

i was there too. i was the asian girl (not the post-bac one) with the ponytail and NOT wearing three-inch heels. haha
