Im a premed student at UTA and considered applying at TCOM in Fort Worth but I would like to hear from people who are TCOM students. What do you like or dislike about it?

I did not attend TCOM, but I did interview there last year. If I had chosen to stay in Texas, I would certainly have gone to TCOM. I enjoyed my experience there more than at any other interview. I would recommend giving them a call and asking if you can sit in on classes and meet some people. They are usually pretty receptive to that. Good luck!

Just to let you know, with this kind of inquiry you will probably get more hits in the Osteopathic forum. Although there are very few TCOM students for one reason or another, that use SDN.

I go to TCOM. I think it is a good school overall. Like any place though it has its pros and cons. Without getting into the whole MD vs. DO thing, TCOM is a very well respected school that will provide you with a good foundation upon which to build a medical career. If you would like a more detailed explanation of the pros and cons related to being a TCOM student, private message me and I'll give you my take.

Overall it is a fine school. In truth, it is probably the best DO school in the nation and yet it gets very little publicity. This is probably because it has sort of crosses over to the MD world because it is the only DO school in Texas (along with the other 7 MD schools). Most of all our interaction outside of Fort Worth is in MD institutions, and most of our grads do an MD (allopathic) residency. You can either become a very good osteopathic physician here or you can become a superb specialist and never use the manipulation portion of you education if you choose. TCOM and most any other DO school can pretty much give you all you need compared to any medical school. I would not have gone anywhere else in Texas. The city is the best small city in the southern US.
