Can professors in medical schools have their own private practice while teaching at the same time?

So MD professors only do it because they love teaching? or is there any other reason?

The professors who teach frequently are most likely doing it because they really enjoy it. However, i know at my school there is a teaching requirement for all the physicians on staff...that may be one lecture a year, or some other one-time contribution...so that's another reason physicians teach if they choose to work at a large academic institution. For the most part, teaching is a supplement to a clinical or research career and they do it because they like it.
