Hey everyone,

So I will soon be offered a teaching position with Kaplan to teach one of their DAT prep courses since I scored high on my DAT.

However, I have been hearing some negative stuff about teaching for them from people? Does anyone know have any input?

would you care to elaborate on the "negative stuff"? I teach for them and it's decent pay. It pretty much depends on which center you're working at and the staff present. They can either make working there pleasant or pretty ****ty but in the end, it's all about the students. The only time you'll be dealing with the staff is when you're getting paid haha; fill it out properly and they won't really be an issue. Other than that, I can't really comment unless you give me some specifics

i was on some forums (not SDN), looking up information on the audition process. Some of the people were just vaguely saying how Kaplan was horrible to work for an stuff.

I personally think its a great opportunity, but was wondering why some people were vaguely hating on Kaplan.

One thing I know is that some were comparing Kaplan to like Testmasters and/or Princeton Review, and how they pay realllly good. But that doesnt really matter for the DAT I realized since those two companies dont even teach the DAT.

So I passed the audition and will be getting an interview. Any advice/suggestions?

haha they put me on the speed track for training, so once I passed the audition they just passed me on into training. Either way, I don't expect the one on one interview to be too intensive. You should be fine. Good luck

Everyone passes the audition and interview. The biggest pain in the ass is the training, that's where they cut people. I have been told that Kaplan is a little overstaffed so there is a good chance that they cut everyone who trains due to their overcapacity.

I guess that's where I got lucky. I cross-trained for SAT first because that's what they needed. And once my first SAT class was over, I said no more, and moved over to the DATs.

What a waste of time to audition and interview people only to end up cutting them during training?!

Well, Im going to hope for the best, but will be pretty disappointed if I get cut for a stupid reason. Plus I hear they pay real shhitey during training period (like $8 per hour or something)
