Tech License for Hospital?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I guess my question is; would it be worthwhile to try to become certified as a tech if I'm starting school next fall? Or should I just continue working as an assistant/cashier and apply for hospital intern positions when I start school?

Depends on the state and geographic region. If you are moving out of the area, no. Wait until you get to school. If you are in town, maybe, if hospital pharmacy is an interest. Also, depending on the state, you are forbidden to hold both a tech and a pharmacist or pharmacist intern license simultaneously within the state (AZ is an example of this) due to the conflicting regulations.

Hey @lord999 thanks for your response. If that's the case then I think I'm better off just waiting to start school and apply for an intern license. I am going to an in state school but it's about a 5 hour drive from where I live. I'll just keep working as a assistant and look for intern opportunities once I start school

I would argue it would be worthwhile if you can get in several months of work as a tech. I feel like interns with tech experience have an easier time finding a job. Plus, I feel like any real pharmacy work is beneficial, with tech work being much more of a help down the road than clerking.
Just my humble opinion.
